Shannon Snow to Launch Spa Fitness Cancer Benefit in Memory of Her Son Nick, a Champion for California's Children

 

    

Capitola, CA – Shannon Snow, the mother of Nick Snow, who's tireless efforts to improve care for seriously ill children like himself inspired The Nick Snow Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Act of 2006, will kick off the Spa Fitness Cancer Benefit. In memory of Nick, Mrs. Snow will launch the festivities by donating her waist length hair – nearly one yard long – to Locks of Love

Nick Snow, the brave young man who was a spokesperson for the locally based Children’s Hospice & Palliative Care Coalition, helped lead the movement to improve care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Nick battled neuroblastoma for 10 years and beat the disease. Free of cancer, he died a champion following surgery. His story continues to be an inspiration for children and families across the nation.
Nick's heroic efforts were memorialized when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the Nick Snow Children's Hospice & Palliative Care Act of 2006 into law last September.

The Spa Fitness Cancer Benefit is hosting a variety of team taught classes including Step, Cycle, Yoga and Water aerobics throughout the day for members and non-members. Suggested donation is $10.00 Proceeds from the event will benefit Locks of Love and local non-profits WomenCARE and Children's Hospice Coalition.

Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition, headquartered in Watsonville, has developed a nationally recognized local program called the Partnership for Children. This Watsonville-based program is being used as the model of children's hospice and palliative care by the California State Department of Health in the implementation of the Nick Snow Bill, which will improve care for thousands of seriously ill California children.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
